French drugmaker Sanofi says 1 million patients have received treatments for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) since 2021, thanks to its Global Health Unit.

The update came as part of its third-quarter earnings released on Friday (24 October).

“We’re making outstanding progress and helping to redefine what’s possible,” Jon Fairest, head of the Global Health Unit, said in a statement.

“But let’s be clear, we are facing a global health crisis of unprecedented scale. NCDs are silently devastating communities, claiming over 40 million lives annually.”

The company said it was on track to reach 2 million by 2030 with NCD treatments.

As part of this, it has created a brand of affordable drugs for NCD patients called Impact, tackling cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and diabetes.
